Addressing more than 400 bishops from 38 countries in St. Peter’s Basilica, he stressed that celibacy is not only about abstaining from marriage but also about living a life of chastity and presenting the Church as holy and chaste.

The Pope also insisted on the need for firm and decisive action against sexual abuse by clergy, particularly cases involving minors. He called for zero tolerance of abuse and urged bishops to respect current legislation, live in simplicity, and remain close to their congregations.
