While the DOT states the redesign aims to address structural and safety concerns, coalition members believe the project risks perpetuating existing problems, such as pollution and traffic violence, especially near schools and playgrounds. The DOT is entering an environmental review phase, and local organizations are encouraging public participation in the feedback process.
