Many low-lying areas remain submerged, with floodwaters reaching chest height or higher, making movement and emergency response difficult.

Local residents report that flooding is a recurring issue, but the situation has worsened in recent years due to stronger storms, rising sea levels, and land subsidence. The combination of high tides, heavy rainfall, and dam water releases has prolonged the flooding, which has already resulted in at least 30 deaths, including fatalities from electrocution and drowning.
