Young volunteers and artists displayed a united front to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of expression as they highlighted the challenges of modern journalism to mark World Press Freedom Day.

Young volunteers and artists in Paris collaborated to raise awareness about the importance of freedom of expression. Their efforts were led by the NGOs Europeans Without Borders, Cartooning for Peace, and Reporters Without Borders. The project aimed to merge street art and newspaper cartoons to emphasize the significance of press freedom.

With the involvement of a dozen young volunteers, including many from underserved communities, the group transformed a public wall in central Paris into a symbol of resistance. The artwork addresses issues of censorship that persist in some countries, where people may not have the right to freely edit or publish their views in the media.

The display sought not only to draw attention but also to encourage discussion about press freedom. Wimbert Verdessien, a Cuban cartoonist living in exile in France, contributed his perspective on censorship. The central image—a cartoon of a newspaper shattering a wall—was created by artist Gouffaut, who traveled from Mexico to Paris to see his work realized. Organizers and participants described the event as an opportunity for art to cross borders and inspire conversation.
