They are exhausted by their grueling journeys. The journey was difficult, very difficult. It has taken a really long time to get to Egypt. Faced with this major crisis, the UN High Commission for Refugees has sounded the alarm. Sudan should not become another forgotten emergency. Our registration capacity has increased by 900% at one point. We are also now targeting only the most vulnerable ones for cash assistance, for example. But with all that, it is still not enough to address the huge needs that have arisen since the start of the crisis. In the absence of a ceasefire between the two generals vying for power in Sudan, people are condemned to exile indefinitely.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he is hopeful Hamas will accept an “extraordinarily generous” offer, as U.K. Foreign Minister David Cameron says it will include a 40-day ceasefire. But the sticking points remain: Israelis want a truce while Hamas demands a cessation of all hostilities.
