The demonstration in Turin highlighted the public's frustration with the perceived insufficient efforts of major world powers to address global warming. Despite the challenging weather conditions, participants chanted slogans and demanded significant action against the climate crisis. The protesters' displeasure stems from a report by the Global Climate Institute, which indicates that the major G7 countries—United States, Britain, France, Italy, Canada, and Japan—are not close to achieving their emission reduction commitments, achieving, at best, half of the necessary efforts.

As part of the events surrounding the G7 discussions, Italy, which holds the rotating presidency of the G7 this year, announced its intention to explore nuclear energy as an alternative to coal and other fossil fuels.
