A significant winter storm is expected to affect 115 million people from the Midwest to the Northeast of the United States. Cities such as Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh are forecast to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, while the Northeast will see varying amounts, with interior regions potentially receiving up to six inches or more.

The heaviest snow is anticipated in northeastern Pennsylvania, the Hudson Valley, and interior New England, where accumulations could reach up to a foot in some areas. The storm is likely to cause travel delays, and colder weather is expected to persist for up to two weeks following the event.

115 million impacted by snow Monday into Tuesday. Now unlike the weekend storm, we're not going to see the same amounts of heavy snow, but unlike the weekend storm, which was combined to the Midwest, our storm Monday into Tuesday will span the Midwest and the Northeast. Cities like Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, toward Pittsburgh, it's a general one to three inches of snow as we head in the Monday afternoon and Monday night. Then Tuesday, that snow starts pressing into the Northeastern United States. New York City mostly rain, but don't be surprised if you see some snowflakes from Boston. It's going to be a slushy coating to up to an inch as you battle with rain and wet snow Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. The highest snow accumulations we think will be from Northeastern Pennsylvania around Wilkes Berry, Scranton, around the Hazleton area, up into the middle and upper Hudson Valley in the interior sections of New England, where we're looking at snow of three to six inches Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. Some of those snow's going to be heavy and there's certainly going to be travel delays, and we have an AccuWeather local storm max of around a foot of snow. By the way, behind this storm, more cold air coming for the end of the week. Winter is here to stay, at least for the next 10 days to 14 days from the lakes toward the Northeast.
