With a handful of Republicans refusing to vote for Ukraine aid, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson needed Democrats to pass the emergency funding. And his days with the gavel could now be numbered. He is absolutely working for the Democrats, passing the Biden administration's agenda. So this is a speakership that is completely over with. The honorable way for him to leave right now is to announce his resignation ahead of time and give us time to replace him. It was just over six months ago Republicans voted to oust their last speaker, Kevin McCarthy. But this time, Democrats might save the GOP leader. I disagree with Speaker Johnson on many issues and have been very critical of him. But he did the right thing here. And he deserves to keep his job. The House is in recess for the next week. But when lawmakers return to Washington, the motion to vacate could easily come up. Although some Republicans say it's time to take a break from all the upheaval. Now's not the time. The American people don't deserve the drama that took place the last time we picked a speaker.
