The Palestinian Health Ministry reports that, since the escalation of violence linked to the Gaza conflict, over 940 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers, while Israel reports at least 35 Israeli deaths in the same period.

West Bank community dismantles homes amid rising violence

Palestinians from the central West Bank town of Sinjil had organised a march against settler attacks on farmland, when the settlers themselves turned up on a nearby hill. They hurled stones and attacked cars belonging to Palestinians, who threw stones back and set fires to drive them off. After the arrival of the Israeli military, who fired shots into the air, the Palestinians withdrew. We are facing daily attacks by settlers, sadly backed by the occupying army. The tanks you see over there are siding with the settlers." Israeli authorities recently put up a fence cutting off parts of Sinjil from Route 60, which runs through the West Bank. In other Palestinian towns, Israel has erected gates to control access. The occupation and its settlers are trying to seize over 5,400 square kilometres of land south of the town. These efforts are part of plans to end the dream of a Palestinian state, driven by the agenda of the current far-right extremist Israeli government. Since the start of the Gaza war, violence has intensified in the occupied territory. The Palestinian Health Ministry says Israeli troops and settlers have in that time killed more than 940 Palestinians, both fighters and civilians. Israel says at least 35 Israelis have been killed over the same period.
