A shifting atmospheric river is forecast to bring waves of rain and snow to the West Coast, affecting areas from Washington and Oregon down to California. Colder temperatures compared to previous storms are expected to result in increased snow accumulation in the mountains, particularly at higher elevations.

The precipitation is anticipated to persist into the following week, with some regions potentially receiving up to eight inches of rainfall. The northern part of California, in particular, is expected to benefit from the much-needed rain and snowfall, especially at elevations above 9,000 to 10,000 feet.

Yes, even on the east side of the Cascades, you guys could see some precipitation out of this. The interesting thing is watching where the rain snow sets up because with this one, we're definitely on the colder side compared to the one we had last week where it was a lot of liquid precip. The snow should still be piling up the mountains, which is really what we need saturday and sunday. We call this is what's called onshore flow. So it's not necessarily the A. R. Because the A. R. B. Sliding south. But with a west coast flow or a westerly flow with those winds going from west to east, it just keeps the rising air and keeps precipitation and cloud cover and of course mountain snow, which over time piles up. And so we'll be measuring that in feet as we go into the next couple of days. But the river itself that's in the sky is beginning to shift. And as that happens, we're bringing some interesting weather to california that actually is in dire need of snowfall as well and rain. Most of that rain will be targeted towards the northern section of the state with the snow that's gonna be seeing high snow levels again. So the problem is, you know, we're only getting some of the snow to start things off at the highest peaks, which is why you're not looking at a lot of blue here. It stays way above 89,000 and 10,000 ft. But it stays with us staff all the way into next week. And so that's one of the reasons why we could see, yeah, maybe some spots we have eight inches of rainfall.
