The latest of which was on Sunday at a match against Valencia. The Spanish police announced they've arrested three youths on charges of racist behavior. Spain's football league also fined the Valencia team 45,000 euros over the fans' behavior and decided to partially close its stadium for five matches. The Valencia arrest came hours after Spanish police arrested four other individuals accused of hate crimes relating to the hanging of an effigy of the 22-year-old football player four months ago. Real Madrid, along with Spanish politicians and other players, have condemned the repeated racism. Sport is a meeting place for values and coexistence, for respect and solidarity. This is why I want to make it very clear and announce that Real Madrid will not tolerate any more incidents and racist insults against any of our players. For this, it is essential to radically change the arbitration structure of football in our country. The abuse towards Vinicius Jr. has reopened debate in football, but also on a broader level within Spanish society of how it deals with racism.
