Today, one of the saddest days in our country. A year after the deadliest school shooting in Texas, the nation remembers the 21 lives lost at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. And there's the memorial. They're going to have all sorts of different services today. Got a year ago. So we want to get to Fox's Madeline Rivera, who's at the memorial site in Uvalde, to talk about what's being done to remember all those lives lost. Madeline. Good morning, Mike and Alex. Well, this memorial was set up in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. It's been here ever since. Families have stopped by as recently as yesterday to drop off flowers, mementos, and remember their loved ones. It's a year they've called an emotional roller coaster. I know I'm going to remember that phone call that I got. Berlinda Arriola says she's experiencing deja vu. Exactly one year ago, her step-granddaughter, Amory Jo Garza, was killed in the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. When I got that call, I just thought it was a bell out, not realizing what was about to transpire. 19 children and two teachers died. The attack notorious, too, for the botched police response. It took more than an hour before law enforcement officials breached the fourth grade classroom where the teenage gunman was holed up and killed him. No one ever fully heals. You will always have a part of your heart missing. But so far, Uvalde's district attorney has not filed criminal charges as its investigation continues. I haven't got one briefing from anybody from day one. The families of Uvalde's victims are also frustrated. Several have traveled to the state's capital in Austin and Washington, D.C., to push for gun reform. We have not been able to move forward from that day because nothing has changed. Still, they haven't given up hope. And one year after the tragedy, they want people to not only remember the lives lost, but also fight. Making sure that everyone that failed, our children, our loved ones, are held accountable. The Uvalde district attorney says they're waiting for a final report from the Texas Department of Public Safety before deciding whether to recommend criminal charges. Mike and Alex.
