U.S. stocks dip amid hawkish Federal Reserve

Brian, I do want to start here with Jim bulletin. Really the feds speak over all the message that you're getting out of the comments here and whether it is changed at all your investment thesis, wonderful to see you. Romaine? And of course not my longtime friend, Scarlett food, which I don't know what she's talking about. Bullard is always hawkish and this should come as no surprise and it should come as no surprise that the FED continues. Its hawkish stance. I'm 100% in agreement, one fit inflation. Friend is not going to set a trend. I think the federally needs to see two or three before they even start to whisper about a change in policy right away and kind of wash this out and see what's going on, kind of like water torture here, in terms of trying to get to that. But at the end of the day, I think the biggest problem, Romaine with markets and we talked about it in a piece that we wrote this week was, we've read an entire generation of him. Doctors that believe that stocks only go off of interest rates, go down and I think it's safe to say safe at 2 to say that, it's going to be higher than 0 next year. And we've shown really since 1979, when the S&P 500 has dealt with a 10-year yields above the three-year average, and still climbing, the average performance against is 1979 76% of time is positive and it's 9%. So, again, if there's a safe for me to be above zero next year, in above the three-year average, and I think that the mere notion, I'm sorry, that interest rates are positive. Means the economy, still positive, self baking way too much into fed-speak, acted in that. The job market, the labor market seems to be fairly robust. How does that square with signs that we're sharing from big type that they're laying off tens of thousands of workers at Amazon? Meta. And consumer demand, Still Remains fairly solid. We are checking out the only employer in our country. Number one. Number two, a lot of the tech employees were probably there very short-term, you're over this. A lot of people shift over in, even our own business, Financial Services left. More Junior analyst roles to go work for big Tech and all over the country. And so, there was they kind of treated those jobs Moore's. Rental than anything. I think people kind of lose sight of that. And in the other thing to Scarlett, got to remember, is if you take a look at employment, quite frankly is the is the legging asked, if you want to use head of the term indicator of all, the latest indicator of all and sell stocks leader names were to leave the economy and employment, the very last part of it and we still don't think we're going to see this massive rise in unemployment. Which means any kind of recession that we do see is going to be very, very shallow talk a little bit of here about where we are in terms of market levels and whether there's something we can Divine from that as to the potential for gain to maybe, I guess, let's say in, 2023. The idea of the sort of coil spring, and the optimism that a lot of people have, or at least, they want to have two things are going to get better. It's a wonderful question. I think there is a don't believe that on a short-term basis. A lot of the upsides been short-covering. I do believe that Equity investors that that have Equity Equity Centric. Portfolios are massively under profiled in terms of equities and they have to kind of catch up here a little bit before the end of the year and I do think Santa is coming so to speak. That doesn't mean it's a straight line from here. Oh man, I think next year, the beginning of the year could be a little bit bumpy as we start to see a bit of a re-rating in earnings that remains to be seen, but I think corporate guidance heading into 2023 when we start to hear from them in january-february, given the reactive nature of the market could be a little bit squishy here. But the bottom line is the next two to three years if you like an outcome and output. I believe that we're heading into more normalized types of returns normalized. Thanks for all normalize interest rates. And oh, by the way, that's a very good atmosphere correctly, especially us equities as a home for stabilization around the world position. For especially if we do get some kind of Santa Claus rally in the coming weeks where you have some of the algorithm chase, some of these big tax. But I think the bigger move is going to be in the value Scarlet. You see how small caps getting hit today? I think small and mid-cap from a fundamental perspective or starting to look really well, I think finacial financials financials, especially the Big Money Center Banks from on Valley perspective in Devon and perspective. There's some Select Healthcare stocks, especially the drugs and biotech and devices and then I'll leave you with more domestic type of industrial. Some select energy, but I would not be selling apple and Microsoft. Apple and Microsoft, our cash flow monsters in the continued to have amongst the most stable earnings of any company. S&P 500.

The specialized police unit that included the five Memphis officers charged with the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols was disbanded on Saturday, as more protests took place in U.S. cities a day after harrowing video of the attack was released.
