You can feel the buzz in the air and the tension on the field. Things boiling over in stoppage time and punches being thrown down there, ugly scenes here. Chester is electric for the U.S. men's national team's 2-1 win over Paraguay, their final visit before the World Cup kicks off in Philadelphia next summer. You guys aren't excited at all, are you? No, we're extremely excited. To think there's this many Paraguayans on the East Coast, West Coast that have made their way out to watch this game against the U.S. is a very big feeling. Philadelphia feels like the heartbeat of the soccer world right now. Not only is the World Cup coming here with six matches, including a knockout round on America's 250th birthday, but the Union are also making a run in the MLS playoffs. It's beyond exciting. It's a ton of fun. The stadium's always fun for Union home games, but this is really cool just to be here for a U.S. national game. Fans are getting a kick out of the World Cup coming to town, and so are the players, especially the ones with local ties. Four on the national team not only grew up in the Delaware Valley, but also played for the Union, including goalie and Wayne native Matt Freese. Feels great to be in Philly, obviously. Definitely looking forward to the game. I love playing here. I'm sure it's going to be a great atmosphere. As exciting as this is, this is the calm before the storm. The 2026 World Cup will be the biggest ever. There'll be 104 matches, 48 teams, and 16 host cities, including Philadelphia. This is such a moment for Philadelphia to shine on a global stage. We've hosted the Pope. We've hosted conventions. We've hosted the NFL Draft. We've done really big things, but there's no bigger sporting event in the world than FIFA World Cup.
