Now is the time to put up those holiday lights, as much of the country will see temperatures well above average Friday into the weekend. Dozens of records will be in jeopardy from the Dakotas all the way down to Texas on Friday.

Several regions in the United States are experiencing unseasonably warm weather, with temperatures forecasted to be 10 to 30 degrees above average. Cities such as Grand Isle, Nebraska and Abilene, Texas are expected to surpass previous record highs, with forecasts of 81 and 89 degrees respectively.

Meteorologists note that this pattern of warmth is widespread, with many areas continuing to see temperatures well above normal into the coming days. Cooler air is expected to move in from the north, but much of the region will remain above average for the immediate future.

today forecasting about 75 degrees for high and we are going to be 21 degrees above where we should be now for this time of the year so that's a lot so you look at the map and you see maybe about 10 to 30 degrees above average in some spots out here so yeah it's going to be a warm one that's for sure and we're definitely going to be watching for setting some records so record highs it's a possibility in places like a Grand Isle Nebraska 81 degrees that's the forecast 71 the record set back in 2001 and we'll do it all over again in places like Abilene as we head toward your tomorrow 89 is a forecast forecast close to 90 degrees 85 is the record set back in 1955 we're looking at that in Lubbock as well so of course again we're looking at those arrows that continue to go up and once again forecasting about 10 to maybe 20 degrees 25 degrees above average we'll see this again as we head toward your Sunday again lots of red on the map we have those arrows going up we'll start to see more of those blues coming further off to the north but still plenty of us that will be above average
