The United Nations Human Rights Council is evaluating the possibility of launching a fact-finding mission in Sudan, following reports of increased violence and displacement in al-Fashir, North Darfur. Civilians fleeing the city describe extreme danger, with many witnessing widespread violence, malnutrition, and the loss of family members.

The International Organization for Migration has called for the creation of humanitarian corridors to deliver essential aid to those affected. The crisis in Sudan is now considered one of the world's most severe humanitarian and displacement emergencies, with tens of thousands of civilians forced to leave their homes.

They are removed from drone and mortar attacks. These displaced Sudanese have found some calm in this camp in al-Daba, where they are cared for and fed daily. They'd been suffering from malnutrition in the city of al-Fasher in north Darfur, which has been in the control of paramilitary RSF rapid support forces since the 26th of October. They described the extreme danger they faced as they left. The roads were terrifying because of the bodies, bodies of people and children, along with their clothes, belongings and documents scattered across the street. It looked like a scene from a horror film. The camp here was designed to house people who fled al-Fasher as the war between the RSF and the Sudanese army continues. Tens of thousands of civilians have left the city and its surroundings. The UN reports an escalation of violence there over the past two weeks, something the displaced confirm. We witnessed everything, theft, murder and corpses in the streets. Many families were wiped out. Some families lost five members or six or two or three or four and so on. Every day we would hear about people missing before finding out that they were murdered. Sudan is currently going through the world's most devastating humanitarian and displacement crisis. The International Organization for Migration launched an appeal on Thursday for the creation of humanitarian corridors so that vital aid can be brought to the people of Sudan.
