Assange himself was not present due to ill health, according to his lawyer. And those close to him believe his life would strongly be in danger in the US. This case is an admission by the United States that they now criminalise investigative journalism. It's an attack on all journalists all over the world. Julian is a political prisoner and his life is at risk. What happened to Navalny can happen to Julian. He has to be released. His wife has also raised the possibility of applying to the European Court of Human Rights for an emergency injunction, should the London case be unsuccessful. The hearings are expected to last two days.
