A bipartisan continuing resolution, which keeps the government operating while lawmakers negotiate a longer deal, but some conservatives balk at those spending levels. A laddered continuing resolution that would set up separate funding bill deadlines for different parts of the government, or a continuing resolution with Israel aid. All these options have landmines for the newly minted Speaker. Honeymoon might be shorter than we thought, and every time the CR expires, the Speaker's putting his head in the lion's mouth. Federal agencies are preparing for the worst. The State Department, ensuring their important work during the war in Israel, remains intact. We will take appropriate steps to ensure that this department, this building here, as well as our missions and our consulates and embassies around the world, can take whatever appropriate steps they need to. Sources tell Fox, the plan is to have the text for an interim spending bill sometime over the weekend, giving House members a couple of days to familiarize themselves with the CR before voting is expected on Tuesday.
