Holy Hill Basilica in Washington County, Wisconsin, is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors as it hosts the relics of St. Thérèse for a weekend. The relics, which are significant to the Catholic faith, are part of a United States tour that previously included stops in Siberia and Mongolia, with Holy Hill being the only location in the upper Midwest.

The visit includes a full mass with the relics and offers attendees a chance to reflect and seek hope. Visitors and staff describe the event as uplifting, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to participate. The relics will remain at Holy Hill until Tuesday morning.

I'm Washington County reporter Marcus Arsvold at Holy Hill, where thousands of people are expected to visit to see a special relic that means a lot to those who honor the Catholic faith. Preparations are underway for the relics or holy remains of Saint Therese to spend the weekend at Holy Hills Basilica. She's seen as like a powerful friend of God and can help us. Therese's reliquary is relatively contemporary in sainthood as she died in the late 1800s, but her writings live on and inspire other Catholics to accept their own weaknesses, doubts, and faith in their God. And that's what we need so much right now. Just know we're loved and that we're protected and we can trust, but just a sense of peace regardless of faith. Holy Hill visitors say the place has a magical quality to it. You can't beat this view. You know there's something about this place that just it's uplifting. You know it really is even people from out of state spend their time here. I love it. You guys are awesome. Hospitality personalities are great. Everybody's friendly. The first full mass with the relics takes place Saturday afternoon as a part of the United States tour, which previously made its way through Siberia and Mongolia. This is the only stop in the upper Midwest. It's beautiful, really. It's breathtaking. The relics will remain at Holy Hill until Tuesday morning. I feel so grateful and thankful that I'm blessed with all the blessing that I receive and I'm so happy to be here. And I'm so happy to see the Holy Hills again. The staff here tells me it takes a lot of work and preparation to facilitate this kind of visit, but they say it's worth it in the end to see how this Saints relics impact those who are looking for some hope at Holy Hill.
