The Weather Channel has published the list of names that will be used for winter storms during the 2024-25 season. These names are specifically assigned to major winter storms and do not include lake effect snow events, arctic cold outbreaks, or hurricanes.

In the previous season, 20 winter storms received names. While named storms can occur as early as October, they most commonly begin in November.

The winter storm names for the winter 2024 to 25 season have now been released. Something to keep in mind, these names aren't given to lake effect snow storms or simply arctic outbreaks of purely cold air. They're also not names that you'll see on the hurricane list for the Atlantic or the Pacific. Last year there were 20 named winter storms. Keep in mind that these can occur as early as October, but typically they begin in November.
