A teenage boy is in a stable condition after suffering puncture wounds from a shark attack. The attack happened on an afternoon fishing trip after he caught a white pointer shark.

A teenage boy was bitten by a shark after bringing the animal onto a small fishing boat near West Beach boat ramp, Adelaide. The incident occurred while the 16-year-old was on a fishing trip, during which he caught a white pointer shark. This shark, approximately six feet in length, bit the teenager on the upper part of his left leg after being hauled aboard.

Paramedics were dispatched promptly to the scene, transporting the boy to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with puncture wounds. Efforts were made swiftly to manage the bleeding. According to the boy's father, there was immediate panic following the bite, leading to the shark being released back into the water soon thereafter.

The teenager is currently in a stable condition and is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the coming days. His recovery is ongoing, with his father recounting the ordeal and the boy's surprisingly optimistic outlook towards future fishing endeavours.

Now what we know tonight is the boy was attacked during an afternoon fishing trip. He was bitten on the leg after catching a white pointer shark on a small fishing boat. He brought the shark on board and when the animal spun around it bit him on the upper part of his left leg. Now paramedics, they worked very quickly to stem the bleeding and it's understood the white pointer was around six foot in length. This is the boy's father moments after the attack coming back to shore describing the chaos on board the boat. He screamed and said, oh get it off, get it off. So I reached down and opened its mouth and luckily enough it did open its mouth. I let go and he dropped the shark back in the water. He even said as he was getting an ambulance, can we go out tomorrow? And I was like, I don't know about that. Now Chris, the good news is tonight the boy is in a stable condition in hospital. He's hopefully going to be released in the next day or two.
