The conflict began with fighting between Bedouin fighters and Druze armed groups, prompting the Syrian government to deploy security forces. Israel subsequently launched airstrikes on Syrian government troops and the defense ministry in Damascus, citing the protection of the Druze minority and the need to keep the border area demilitarized. 

President al-Sharar credited Arab and American mediation for helping to restore calm. Under the ceasefire agreement, Syrian security forces have started deploying in the region, and Israel has agreed to allow limited Syrian government access to the Suwayda area for a short period.

Syria's government said its security forces had begun deploying in the region under this ceasefire. And an Israeli official said on Friday that the government had agreed to allow Syrian forces limited access to the Sueda area for the next two days.
