Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, experienced steady snowfall beginning after 7 a.m., resulting in picturesque winter scenes and snow accumulations estimated between 3 and 5 inches. Road crews have been actively clearing streets in Carbon County to maintain safe driving conditions as the snow continues.

While driving conditions remained manageable in the early hours, authorities warned that roads may become hazardous as the snow is expected to turn to rain and sleet later in the day. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, as changing weather could lead to slippery surfaces and additional travel challenges.

As you're driving through Jim Thorpe, PA, maybe you'll see guys like the one behind me who is clearing streets here in Carbon County. Very different change of scenery from what we saw even just a few hours ago. Flurries coming down just after 7 o'clock this morning. Now we've got some steady snowfall here in Jim Thorpe, but it absolutely looks gorgeous here. Accumulation-wise, we could see anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of snowfall. Of course, that's going to vary depending even on where you are in this town, Lehigh Gorge. Just a few steps away, or the start of it, right behind me here. Elevation at times can get up to 1,700 feet. So what you'll see on that side of town could be very different from the main strip where we are currently. Now, driving conditions. Things are okay for right now because we're only a few hours into when that snowfall had really started here. But for what that could look like later could potentially be a messy situation. We've got the snow, the beautiful snow right now, but that will eventually turn into rain over the next few hours. So when you are behind the wheel, take it slow. Take it steady because sleep could potentially be an issue later on this afternoon. As for the type of snow, it's beautiful. I'm going to pick it up and show you for just a second here. Look at that. It is that perfect type of packable snow that you just want to have a snowball fight or just lay in and maybe do a snow angel too. But again, we're back here in Jim's oars. You got guys just like this one, maybe driving a little crazier than you should be on the roads right now, but he's doing his job. He's clearing the streets and getting things as clear as they possibly can be for drivers that are still out on the roads today here in Carbon County. We're going to continue to follow these conditions over the next few hours. Of course, again, rain later on this afternoon is where those issues may come up.
