We came to the location quickly, there was a fire burning here. We went into the fire to get people out. The Israeli army was standing there watching everyone, but they didn't lift a finger. Suddenly, on the other side, there were residents living there who also have sheep. We got a report that settlers attacked them, attacked their homes, over their heads. There were three injuries. The number of settlers was large. They even burned a factory, smashed the solar panels and set houses on fire. The injuries ranged from moderate to severe. The Israeli military says it took four settlers into custody over Tuesday's attacks in Beit Lid. But Palestinians say the military more often looks the other way. Beatings and arson are the settlers' weapons of choice. We were at the governor's office for a meeting with him, and there was no one left at our homes. Then, as we were returning, we were shocked to get calls from our families saying that settlers had attacked us. They set fire to the vehicles, set fire to everything. The sheep scattered and the calves were taken away. They beat the children and women. They destroyed my business. For 60 years, we've been working, my father and grandfather before me. Much of the economy in the occupied West Bank depends on cash, making Palestinian businesses more vulnerable when attacks occur. The truck was loaded with goods worth around $2,700. In my jacket, I had about $10,800. I'd put it in the vehicle, and they burned it. I also lost a book with records of debts for about $54,000. My truck, worth about $27,000, was turned into ashes. They kept watching us, and when we left, they attacked. They took the sheep and the calves and burned tractors and cars. They beat the women and attacked my uncle's family after storming his shop. They injured three people. The Trump administration has said it opposes the Israeli far-right's bid to fully annex the occupied West Bank.
