A series of clipper systems will bring rounds of snowfall for parts of the Midwest this week. The first storm will move through the area through Sunday with the second one beginning to impact the region Monday into Tuesday. The third storm will be right on the others’ heels, starting Tuesday and likely lasting into Thursday.

A succession of weather systems, known as Clippers, is forecast to move from Canada into the Midwest, Great Lakes, and eventually the Northeast. The first system will bring snow to the Midwest and Great Lakes, reaching cities such as Chicago, Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland between overnight and early in the week.

Following a brief pause, additional systems are expected, with significant snowfall projected for Iowa and lighter accumulations from the Dakotas to the Northeast. Later in the week, a third system is anticipated to bring a wintry mix to the region as temperatures fluctuate.

Got a parade of Clippers coming on down from Canada, working with that cold air, and that's gonna bring us another swath of snow stretching from the Midwest through the Great Lakes and eventually on into the Northeast as well. So this is the timing of each and every Clipper that comes through. The number one Clipper takes us through the Midwest and the Great Lakes, that's today into tomorrow. That moves away into the Northeast. Second one comes down. This brings snow to mainly the Great Lakes region. This one tracks a little bit farther to the North. Plenty of cold air in places like Marquette and Rhinelander, Wisconsin and Green Bay as well. This next system drops a little bit more toward the South and actually has some warmer air to play with as well. So that's why it's not just gonna be all snow. So we're gonna bring that first system on through. Chicago doesn't really get here until overnight into Sunday morning. And then we'll see that snow over the Eastern Great Lakes, places like Detroit and down towards Toledo and Cleveland by the time we get to Sunday night and Monday. Here's our break. And then we bring in the next system after that. But as you can see, this is gonna pile up the snow across the Hawkeye State, five to eight inches in that purple. Elsewhere, you've got the blue stretching from the Dakotas all the way into the Northeast. And then the next system brings snow to the Great Lakes region, tracks a little bit more toward the North, light to moderate snowfall. And then of course that third one we'll be watching later on in the week. And that brings more of that wintry mix as we head towards Wednesday and Thursday.
