But for a city that has taken some more recent hits to its public image, it's also a chance for the mayor, who was born and raised here, to give her city a chance to shine. San Francisco, some claimed, was caught in a doom loop. Have you broken the doom loop? The doom loop is a narrative created by, I believe, people who may not even live in San Francisco. I mean, San Francisco does have its challenges, but what is not being told is the real story of San Francisco. The real story, Breed says, is that the city by the bay is still a thriving creative innovator, leading the way in tech like artificial intelligence. We have over 80 new AI companies in San Francisco alone. APEC week hasn't been perfect for public relations. City being called back! A foreign TV crew was robbed at gunpoint. Some restaurants report diners are staying away. At the hardware store, Renato Gaslani, Jr. manages on the edge of the security zone. Business is down. I think just the media in general is kind of just telling everybody to stay away from the area because of the traffic and everything else. The city did a massive cleanup for APEC. While Gaslani doesn't believe it will last. Unfortunately, I don't want to be negative, but I believe that's going to be the case because I don't think the city has the resources to just keep it up. Breed disagrees and says the San Francisco she loves deserves a chance to shine.
