News is emerging of a deadly Russian attack in Ukraine overnight. Strikes and drones were reported in Kyiv. CBS News' Ramy Inocencio has more.

Russian forces have invaded Ukraine from land, air and sea with strikes causing widespread damage. Global leaders have condemned the move and imposed sanctions.

Russia launched a significant missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, resulting in at least six deaths and dozens of injuries, including children, according to Ukrainian officials. The assault, described as one of the largest since 2022, involved 430 drones and 18 missiles and caused widespread damage to government buildings, residential apartments, a hospital, and a school.

Additional fatalities were reported in the Odessa region, and Ukraine responded with long-range Neptune missile strikes, though their impact was not specified. Russian officials also reported a Ukrainian drone attack on a Black Sea oil port. Amid ongoing hostilities, President Zelensky plans to visit Paris to meet with President Macron to reinforce international support for Ukraine.

Breaking overnight Russia unleashed a massive missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. Officials in Ukraine say at least six people have been killed and dozens more injured and that includes children. CBS News foreign correspondent Rami Innocencio is following developments for us from London. Rami, this is yet another reminder as we talk about so much that the war rages on. Tell us about this overnight attack. Yes, absolutely Errol. Well this is one of Russia's biggest overnight aerial attacks on Ukraine so far since 2022 when the war restarted. 430 Russian drones along with 18 Russian missiles. That is what President Zelensky said his country has had to deal with overnight across its central, eastern and southern regions and there you see it. He said it was a wicked attack and that Kiev was a key target along with energy facilities. As we know now the country is into its fourth winter since the war started. Explosions started lighting up the city after midnight there. Damage reports from falling debris along with fires came in pretty much indiscriminately from government buildings. At least 11 high rise apartments we understand, a hospital along with a school. Also east in the Odessa region we're hearing reports of at least two more people killed. But Ukraine also tried to take shots at Russian targets overnight, Errol. Zelensky said that the military launched long-range Neptune missiles which are made in the country but he didn't say what if any targets were hit there but he's previously said they have a range of more than 600 miles. And separately Russian officials said that a Ukrainian drone attack hit a key oil port on the Black Sea which damaged a ship along with an oil depot but so far Ukraine hasn't commented and they don't often do in regards to any attacks that happen on Russian territory. And finally this morning we're also learning that Zelensky will travel to Paris to meet President Emmanuel Macron to try to reaffirm support of the country. Clearly as we're seeing again this ramping up this continued aerial assault on Ukraine, many parts of Ukraine as we go further and further into this fourth winter.
