Pokrovsk, located in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, is facing continuous shelling as the city endures a siege. The relentless bombardment over recent weeks has resulted in large parts of the city being devastated. Due to the precarious situation, a significant portion of the population has been evacuated. Presently, less than 2,000 individuals remain in Pokrovsk, which previously had a population of 60,000.

Ukrainian military efforts have included civil cooperation officers aiding in evacuations. Maxim, one such officer, has been involved in assisting residents in leaving the city. Despite these efforts, some residents, particularly pensioners, are choosing to stay. One resident, expressing his mixed national identity, highlighted the desire for peace amidst the ongoing conflict. 

As the situation worsens, a curfew has been enforced in Pokrovsk. The environment is tense, with shop owners unwilling to engage, anticipating further lighting outages due to increasing shelling. The remaining residents, complying with curfew regulations, are hurrying to the safety of their homes.
