For the third time in a week, a NATO member, Romania, has found new drone fragments near its border with Ukraine, allegedly similar to those used by the Russian army. FRANCE 24's Carolyn Lamboley takes a look at how residents and authorities are dealing with this threat.

Here, in Eastern Romania, the sound of sirens has become all too frequent. Residents say they often hear drones flying overhead and that sometimes they also feel the tremors when drones explode or get shot down. If it gets worse and the drone strikes become more frequent, especially if one falls on a house in the village, then there's nothing we can do. We have to get out of here. In response, around 50 Romanian soldiers began building two bomb shelters this week near the border. Authorities say it's only the beginning. Residents felt unsafe and so we're trying to do something for them. We will make major investments in all the villages on the border, given the actions taken by the Russian Federation. The area lies just across the river from two key Ukrainian ports on the Danube River. The ports, which are used to export grain to world markets, have come under attack in recent days. And on Wednesday, fresh drone fragments were found in two separate locations near the border in Romania. Details about the incidents are still fuzzy, and it's unclear whether Romania has determined where or when the drones were launched. But Romanian President Claus Ioannis said that fragments found on Saturday were similar to those used by the Russian army. He criticised what he called an absolutely unacceptable violation of Romania's sovereign airspace. The foreign ministry has also said it would summon the head of Russia's diplomatic mission.
