Long live the intifada, or uprising, they chanted at Princeton University in New Jersey. But at Cornell University in New York State, it turned vile. Graffiti such as this, mild compared to brutally specific death threats posted online to rape and shoot Jews, even to behead Jewish babies. Police have now arrested a Cornell student on a federal criminal complaint. This is for Jewish students at the university. My family last night, we had a discussion whether it's safe for me to be on campus or whether I should come back home. This is not a time for panic, but it is a time for vigilance. On Capitol Hill, FBI Director Chris Wray told U.S. lawmakers anti-Semitic threats are now at historic levels in this country. And he had this sobering warning. Here in the United States, our most immediate concern is that violent extremists, individuals or small groups, will draw inspiration from the events in the Middle East to carry out attacks against Americans going about their daily lives. To be clear, it's not just Jewish Americans who are increasingly fearful. This threat was slipped under the door of a Palestinian staff member at American University in Washington. And in Chicago, Muslims are still reeling after the stabbing death earlier this month of this six-year-old, attacked, say authorities, because he was Muslim.
