A Bank of England survey of household attitudes finds that UK public confidence in the central bank has plunged to a record low amid the cost-of-living crisis and soaring interest rates. The survey finds only 19% are satisfied with the BOE's job of handling inflation. Lizzy Burden has more on Bloomberg Television.

That according to the central bank's own survey of household attitudes Bloomberg's Lizzie Burden is here. Lizzie let's talk a start with the dismal review of the Bank of England. It's kind of coming within from its own house. Talk to us about what we heard. Yes exactly. It's the inflation attitude survey by the BOE. As you say public confidence in the bank a record low. When you think about it monetary policy is a game of expectations management isn't it. And the Bank of England seems to be failing miserably. Two in five people think it's doing a bad job of controlling inflation. But it's also bad news for the prime minister Rishi Sunak because his number one priority is to halve inflation this year. And yet he isn't promising to do anything actively towards that end. He's only promising not to worsen the problem. So really his political fate is somewhat in the hands of the BOE. But we get another decision on Thursday. The expectation is for a quarter point hike. The question is what the guidance will be around it. Will it clearly be that this is the last hike. Are we at the peak of Table Mountain.
