The U.S. Treasury says the country has received more than $220 billion in tariff revenue. But financial experts are skeptical about the plan. A nonpartisan group called the committee for a responsible federal budget calculates $2,000 rebate checks could cost $600 billion. Time's now 615. In-person experience is what it's all about. You have the ice skating rink. You have the great tree that's being lit tonight. You have all of the wonderful experiences inside the store. And ultimately, that's really what we're trying to drive home. New pop-ups are opening downtown and more companies are leasing office space. The mayor's office says crime in Union Square is down 40 percent. Workers and shoppers say they've noticed a difference. It's been a long time since I've worked down here during the holidays, but I know that there's been foot traffic and people want to come down and see the tree lighting and the winter walk. Streets are a lot cleaner. Union Square seems safer. The police presence is much appreciated. It's calmer. It's nice. The ice skating rink is open now until January 19th, and it is hosting a number of fun events for everyone, including a silent skate, a polar bear skate, where you dress up and then lace up some skates and even learn to skate events for people just looking to try it out for the first time, perhaps.
