Authorities are investigating a series of violent crimes believed to be connected to a drug trafficking syndicate, including torture and attempted murder by burying a man alive.

Police are investigating a series of violent incidents across Queensland and New South Wales, including an attempted murder in Jimboomba, the torture and killing of Rich Dillon Choup in Sydney's West, and the kidnapping and torture of another man in Canley Vale. Authorities believe these crimes are linked, with evidence suggesting the involvement of hired individuals and connections to a Melbourne-based drug trafficking syndicate. 

The crimes include a man surviving being shot in the head and buried alive, and another victim found dead in bushland after being last seen in Cabramatta. Police have released images and are seeking public assistance to identify five men and vehicles related to the six-day spree, which may be connected to missing drugs or money.

Police investigate contract killings linked to drug syndicate

Walking into a service station, a man who his attackers thought was dead. Dirt on his tracksuit, the only indication he had just survived being buried alive. That, and a hole in his head. The male was shot in the head, through the eye, with a bullet lodged in his brain. He was buried in a shallow grave. After crawling free, the 23-year-old can be seen stumbling onto a slurpy machine. Four days later, another man, Rich Dillon Choup, was tortured and killed in Sydney's West. The last footage of him was captured in Cabramatta. He walks with a man who then slaps him. Dillon's body was found in bushland at Lucas Heights a month later. There was no attempt to flee, there was no attempt to strike back. So it was quite evident from that footage that Mr Choup was in fear of that person. Mr Choup was last seen on July 25 last year. Police believe the same people involved in his murder were involved in the earlier attempted murder in Jimboomba in Queensland. And the kidnapping and torture of a man at Canley Vale in Sydney's South West on July 19, where a 31-year-old man had his ear partially severed. Police releasing this image of a box cutter. These are disturbing crimes. I think that the public would be rightly horrified. Police have issued a public appeal for help in identifying the vehicles and the men in the vision. Police will allege individuals were hired to carry out the violence and believe the three victims have links to a drug trafficking syndicate in Melbourne. It may be a case of missing drugs or missing money. Police are hoping the five men pictured can assist them with any information about the violent six-day spree. Sarah Naven, 10 News.
