Police in Winton, Queensland, have seized 62 kilograms of cannabis after stopping a van on the Lansborough Highway. Officers were prompted to search the vehicle due to a strong smell of cannabis, leading to the discovery of six bags filled with the drug.

Two men, aged 42 and 52 and both from New South Wales, were arrested at the scene and charged with supplying dangerous drugs. Authorities estimate the street value of the seized cannabis at around half a million dollars, and the men are expected to face court at a later date.

As far as drug seizures go, this was a pretty impressive one. The 62 kilos of bagged cannabis found by a patrolling police unit based at Winton in the Queensland Outback. Officers pulled over the white van on the Lansborough Highway. Not so much because it appeared suspicious, but because of the smell coming from inside. Look, I can smell cannabis coming out of the vehicle, alright? So at this point in time, I reasonably suspect there is dangerous drugs in the vehicle. A search quickly confirmed that. They're both full. Yeah, what? Like, full of green leafy material. No less than six clothing bags and luggage cases filled with cannabis. At this point, you both are under arrest for supply of dangerous drugs, okay? Police say its street value, about half a million dollars. The two men, aged 42 and 52, both from New South Wales, will face court at later dates.
