The Geminid meteor shower is expected to reach its peak on the night of December 13 into the early hours of December 14. Observers in dark areas, away from city lights and clouds, could witness more than 100 meteors per hour, making it one of the most prominent meteor showers of the year.

Unlike many meteor showers, the Geminids begin early in the evening, making it suitable for families and casual observers. The best viewing period is after 10 p.m. local time and before 2 a.m., when the moon rises and brightens the sky.
