Groups of Palestinian dual nationals arrived in Egypt and Turkey after leaving war-torn Gaza over the past few weeks. Meanwhile others continue to wait at the Rafah border crossing in hopes of leaving the besieged enclave as the war between Israel and Hamas rages on.

Finally crossing to safety, these Palestinian dual nationals board a bus bound for the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing. While this group of Turkish nationals set foot on safe soil, each handed a flower as they arrive at Istanbul airport. Meanwhile, many others have made the dangerous journey to the Rafah border crossing, waiting close by for days or weeks in the hope of evacuation. This mother, who holds a Jordanian passport, has been trapped in Gaza with her children since the war broke out over six weeks ago. We stayed in Gaza city for 33 days, close to death. There was no water, no medication or any basic human necessities. We got out through a safe passage. It was terrifying. We were surrounded by tanks. I thought that my name was included on the list of evacuees, but I've been on the streets for 12 days with my children. They got sick and I had to take them to the hospital several times. Some ambulances transporting injured Palestinians also crossed into Egypt. The Rafah crossing is the only entry point to Gaza not controlled by Israel. It opened on the first of November as part of a Qatar-brokered deal between Israel, Egypt, Hamas and the US. And dozens of injured Palestinians have since crossed through, with many more still left waiting and hoping.
