Setup for the International Broadcast Center will begin in January, with further details on participating teams and training locations to be announced in the coming months.

North Texas details FIFA World Cup 2026 security plan

The World Cup is now seven months out and the city of Dallas is working to get prepared. Dallas Public Safety Committee heard about the city's plans to maintain safety and security this afternoon. Fox 4's Lori Brown is live with the latest. Hi Lori. Hi Clarice. While the nine matches for the largest sporting event in the world will be held in Arlington at AT&T Stadium, Dallas is gearing up to host the International Broadcast Center, FanFest and training sites. The World Cup will run for 39 days from June 11th to July 19th and even though the city of Dallas won't host any games, it will see plenty of action. 35,000 people a day are expected to visit Fair Park for FanFest those days and the International Broadcast Center at the Kate Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center will be the global hub for 2,000 journalists covering the World Cup. SMU and the Cotton Bowl will serve as training sites. There will also be a fan zone at Clyde Warren Park. The city is considering sharing resources with other cities among topics of concern. Having enough medical resources for people not used to the extreme summer heat who could have medical emergencies, storms and crowd control were also discussed today. We have to plan for the normal things, frankly, extreme summer heat, things like medical surge and we've had some of the biggest storms in my time here in June. So basically the scale is unlike anything we've hosted here in North Texas. One of the things that I still haven't seen and I'm a little troubled by is the lack of infrastructure that we're seeing through permanent bollards in our entertainment districts where we're going to have, we already have large number of people but we're going to expect even higher number of pedestrians and crowd in one given area. We are looking at that. You know, it is a concern of ours with the influx of people and these entertainment districts and how we protect that. But I can guarantee you we'll have a robust plan in place to address pedestrian safety. Set up for the International Broadcast Center will begin January 14th. The exclusive use of the Convention Center for FIFA will last until August 24th. We will learn more about which countries will play games in North Texas at the draw in less than a month on December 5th. Then in the spring we will learn which teams will stay and practice in the area. There will be base camps at F. C. Dallas Stadium in Frisco, the University of North Texas in Denton, Mansfield Multipurpose Stadium and TCU in Fort Worth. Clarice. Historic time in North Texas.
