NJ Transit train derails at Penn Station

A derailed train forced officials to suspend all service, and there are still heavy delays at this hour. Richard Giacobas is live for us at Penn Station with the very latest. Richard. Chris, you could experience delays at least up to an hour in and out of Penn Station on NJ Transit. The good news is, like you said, that service has resumed, but that was before. After it was suspended for hours this morning, right at the height of the morning rush, the people on board that NJ Transit train that we spoke to said that they had no communication while they were sitting in that rail car for at least an hour on the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel when they felt that sudden jerk, and then it derailed. NJ Transit officials tell us that the Northeast Corridor 3926 train coming from Princeton Junction was expected to arrive at Penn Station just before 9 a.m., but then that sudden jerk, and passengers said they were stuck. NJ Transit says the train was upright, so there were no injuries. About 1,500 customers and crew were on board that train. It was a mess, lasting more than two hours, and like you said, resuming just before 11.30 this morning. We spoke with passengers who were on board that derailed train car. They tell us it certainly shook them up, but they were just thankful to get off.
