A new polar plunge is forecast to bring temperatures well below average across much of the eastern United States heading into the weekend, with 70% of the region experiencing significant cold. While the southwest, including Flagstaff, is seeing a return to warmer and sunnier conditions after recent snowfall, most of the nation will continue to face cold air and increased chances of snow.

Forecasters warn that before December begins, a potentially record-setting snowstorm could move through the central United States. These weather changes mark a shift to typical December patterns as the month approaches.
