Chicago experienced a record-setting snowstorm, receiving 8.7 inches of snow, the highest single-day total for November in the city's history. This storm now ranks as the fourth greatest November snowstorm for Chicago, with the last comparable event occurring in January 2021.

Additional snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected across the western Midwest, including Chicago, with some areas seeing up to 6 inches due to lake effect snow. The wintry weather is also affecting the Ohio Valley and is forecast to continue through the week, bringing further cold and a mix of rain and snow to the region.

Expect some fresh snow over what is now ugly snow. You know the freshly fallen snow. It's pretty, or at least a lot of us would probably look and consider it pretty. But then the plows go through cars go through and it's just it's gray. It's slushy. It's gross. So let's talk about those records that we kept referencing and actually there's video of exactly what I was talking about there at the end of the crosswalk. And that is all because of the actually 8.7 inches of snow that Chicago picked up the 8.4 you're seeing here. That sets the single day record for the month of November for snowfall. We got a few tenths of an inch after midnight, so leaked over to November 30th for a storm total of 8.7 inches, and that is relevant. We're going to compare that to the 10.8 you see here, which this 8.7 is the greatest storm total snowfall that Chicago has seen since January 2021 when we got 10.8 inches of snow. So a bunch of numbers. Maybe the stats are not that interesting, to you, but at least gives you a little bit of fuel for your complaining. As I like to say that, hey, there was so much snow. It caused so many headaches. Well, at least it broke a record and actually another record. It's on the list now of the greatest November snowstorms for Chicago. It's number four on the list here, and a lot of these are from. I mean, number one is from the 1800s. That's hard to beat. 1950s, 1975 or 2015. 10 years ago was like that. Last time that we got to the top five on the list here. Let's talk more about what's happening now and what's ahead, because I know that's what a lot of you are tuning in for. So we've been talking about Chicago active snowfall here, but I want to focus into the Ohio Valley too, because this is where we have a messy, messy setup. So overall, Jeff's going to talk about the eastern side of this snow map, but most of us on the western half we're getting one to three inches of snow. There's a few pockets here where we're seeing three to six. Some of this is because of lake effect snow, causing some problems in Michigan. Now this is not record breaking snow by any means, but it certainly adds on to what we've already seen and just continues with the snowy pattern that we're seeing for the week. Accuweather Wintercross for Chicago tells you one to three inches. That'll wrap up right around midnight and very high confidence in the snow totals here. This is not a situation where, hey, maybe you get four or five inches. No, we're pretty solidly confident in the one to three in this situation. Let's time it out on future radar. Give you an idea of what to expect and what to expect and let's take a look at Cincinnati. Because we start out with a wintry mix. Then we start to switch over to snow. By the time we get to 8 PM, we really see the switch over to snow by 10 PM and I'm pointing this out because it creates a higher likelihood for slick spots on the road. So especially if you're heading out at all this evening, you want to give yourself some extra time. No more. Broadly speaking, we get to the early morning hours. We still have some snow lingering for a lot of Ohio Columbus. You might have some active snowflakes for your morning commute. It'll be mostly wrapped up, but still should allow for some extra time for some slick spots there. This moves into the Northeast, but hey, look what's ahead. Another disturbance in this one. It's more about the cold than it is about the snow, but we do get a little bit of snow. Rain, snow mix, depending on exactly where you are. That just again continues with the snowy pattern that we have for the week.
