Record rainfall in Pakistan's Punjab province has resulted in severe flooding, damaging poorly constructed homes and submerging large areas of farmland. Many residents have lost their homes and livelihoods, with some fatalities reported due to collapsed buildings. 

Rescue teams are working to evacuate vulnerable people from low-lying areas as the intensity and duration of the monsoon rains have exceeded normal levels. The National Disaster Management Authority has warned that the coming weeks will be critical, with more rain expected before the end of the monsoon season.

More rain expected as 65 people die in Pakistan's floods

Poorly constructed homes are unable to withstand the heavy downfalls. It had been raining for the past few days. The house was already weak and couldn't resist the relentless rain. Eventually, the roof collapsed, taking the lives of three family members. They might have survived if only help had arrived in time. Vast stretches of farmland and crops are submerged. Many people here have lost everything and are desperate for help. Every year we are faced with floods which destroy our crops and houses. There isn't any protection and no basic facilities. No one cares about us and we are left at the mercy of God. Rescue operations are underway to help move those living in the low-lying areas to safety. Rains have been the heaviest in seven years, leaving a trail of destruction. The National Disaster Management Authority says the next few weeks will be critical for emergency services teams. The agency says it has briefed the government on the situation. The intensity of the monsoon rains is almost 65% higher compared to last year and the duration of the rainfall has also increased two to three times more, far beyond what we expect in this region. Rescue teams are working round the clock in the worst affected areas. We are evacuating pregnant women, children and people with disabilities, moving them to safer areas as quickly as possible.
