The incident took place in broad daylight near a high school and across from a child care centre. The alleged attacker was arrested shortly after the woman was found and has been refused bail, with a court appearance scheduled for next year.

A man has been charged with rape following the discovery of a young woman unconscious in a park at Kisoola yesterday. Our reporter Taylor Ryan is live at the scene. She has more on this incredibly disturbing story. Taylor, what more do we know? Sandra, as you said, this is an incredibly distressing story and a warning to some viewers. Some of the details I'm about to report are confronting. Police were called to this park at Kisoola about 1.45 p.m. yesterday afternoon after a member of the public found an 18-year-old woman unconscious suffering critical injuries. Now she was rushed to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a critical condition. Police say she had been sexually assaulted. Now investigators immediately got to work of course and it didn't take them long to track down the man they believe was responsible for this attack. They took into custody a 27-year-old man not far from the scene. Shortly after the woman was found. Now I've spoken to residents along this street. They say well they did notice some police activity yesterday. They weren't aware of the serious nature of what had occurred here. They also told me this is a popular walking track to Kisoola train station. It is of course perhaps of concern to police. Also this happened right next to a high school and directly across the road from a child care centre and as I mentioned this all took place in broad daylight yesterday afternoon. Now that young woman remains in a critical condition tonight while her alleged attacker faced court this afternoon. He did apply for it however bail was refused. Sandra he'll return to court next year.
