Despite the penalty, Piastri finished on the podium alongside German driver Nico Hülkenberg, who celebrated his first top-three finish in 239 Grand Prix starts. The race was marked by emotional highs and lows for the drivers, with Hülkenberg's achievement described as a 'Cinderella story.'

I can't change it. I really didn't think I did anything different or anything wrong. He would plead with his team to be let back in front, but that was denied. Norris' win, another 1-2 for McLaren. I mean, I did what I did at the first restart and apparently one needed a penalty and one didn't. Piastri's lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship, now just eight points. You know, massive low yesterday and then, you know, such a turn of and swing of emotions and from last on the grid. No one prouder of that Cinderella story than his own daughter.
