From medical supplies to search and rescue teams and a French field hospital, international aid is pouring into Libya from around the world following the devastating flooding that hit the country.

Three military aeroplanes, packed with medical aid and bound for Libya. Search and rescue teams get ready to take off from Egypt, as part of the international aid Libya's so desperately waiting for. Its western neighbour Algeria is sending in firefighters, public safety officers and members of its armed forces. While France has promised a field hospital which will tend to 500 people a day. The needs to help those caught up in the floods are immense. The scale of the disaster is massive. It's beyond the limits and abilities of the Libyan Red Crescent and the government and this is the reason behind the emergency appeal called by the government in the east. Turkey, Tunisia, Qatar and Italy have also promised aid, while a Red Crescent team from Kuwait is expected to arrive shortly to help the populations. They need access to shelter, safe shelter, they need access to food, drinking water, they need access to basic essentials and more importantly you have thousands of young people and children who have also been impacted by this severe storm, who are going through very, very difficult physical and mental situation, so we need teams that can provide psychosocial support to these young people. The United States is providing financial backing to organisations on the ground, as after over ten years of political unrest, Libya's social services are severely weakened.
