In her testimony, Hunter's ex-wife Kathleen Buell stated she discovered his drug use in 2015 after finding a crack pipe in their home. She reported that Hunter admitted to smoking crack cocaine and described ongoing instances of finding drug paraphernalia among his belongings.

Zoe Keaston, Hunter's former girlfriend, testified about his behavior during drug binges, detailing an incident where he was smoking crack every 20 minutes. Despite these accounts, Hunter's defense argues that he was not using drugs at the time of the gun purchase.

However, Hunter's defense maintains that he was not using drugs at the time when he bought the gun. This was an addict who he lied. He possessed a gun. He's guilty. But why not put him in drug court?
