A local park near the burned building has become a memorial site, drawing a steady stream of people paying their respects. Ceremonies were held in accordance with Chinese tradition, marking the seventh day after death, as the city continues to grieve and search efforts persist.

Errol the latest death toll stands at 156 but 30 people are still missing Many of them elderly many of them children We are just a stone's throw from the apartment complex that went up in flames Last Wednesday and this park has been turned into a memorial We're just going to pan around and show you how many people have come here tonight It's been a constant stream of people paying their respects laying flowers So many of them in tears looking up at the charred remains of those towers where so many people perished We yesterday Errol spoke to to one man, his name is Yip Kau Koi He lost his wife of more than 40 years He had called her numerous times warning her to get out of the building as flames Licked up the up the walls But she was busily knocking on other people's doors telling them to get out when she tried it was just too late police found her Body two days ago now Errol in Chinese culture The seventh day of death is when the soul returns home. So that is why funerals are held today There were ceremonies in monasteries and in temples and it really culminates here Tonight with with all the people coming out.
