This year's theme, 'play,' is reflected in the playful and imaginative candy structures, including models inspired by landmarks such as Big Ben and the UK parliament.

Highlights of the exhibition include a Big Ben replica with isomalt and licorice details, a sugar cube igloo, and a parliament filled with gummy bear MPs. The event offers visitors a chance to experience these detailed edible creations throughout the holiday season.

The 9th annual Gingerbread City exhibition in London is a treat for the eyes and it just might make your mouth water. The founder of the museum hosting the expo explained this year's theme. The theme this year is play, so we're putting play at the heart of urban life. The Gingerbread City features 50 architect-designed buildings made of sweets. Some are inspired by iconic British landmarks like Big Ben. For the clock face we used isomalt and some licorice to sort of make the numerals and the clock hands. A lot of icing, a lot of powdered sugar for the snow. We have a sugar cube igloo here. The UK parliament filled with gummy bear MPs was also on display. There's two kilograms of treacle, over a kilogram of butter, it's an awful lot of food. And then all of the sweet elements, so there's 1,060 on the structure itself and they're all licorice or gummies with the exception of the two banners that are hanging down in the parliament space. This holiday season, locals and tourists in London will have an opportunity to feast their senses on these intricately arranged tasty treats at the Gingerbread City Expo.
