G7 leaders who gathered in Hiroshima, Japan have agreed to introduce new sanctions on Russia and its citizens who support the war in Ukraine. Despite denials from Moscow, the sanctions imposed on the country over its 'special military operation' have caused severe economic difficulties and shortages.

For its part the EU is restricting the import of Russian diamonds a multi-billion dollar industry. Russian diamonds are not forever. But these leaders still face a problem. How to crack down on those who aren't part of their alliance helping Russia evade their sanctions. India's prime minister is among those invited to observe the G7. There are technical loopholes. Russian oil going to India. India refining it but the products the higher value added that India sends into Europe and elsewhere legal. Ukraine's president says his priority this week is calling on allies for more modern weapons and aircrafts. The U.S. has now signaled it won't block EU allies from sending F-16 jets to Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky was supposed to address the G7 virtually but instead he's coming here in person. Authorities in Russia are warning people to evacuate affected areas as Russia’s Kurgan and Tyumen regions and swaths of northern Kazakhstan are flooded. Tens of thousands have already abandoned their homes. Kurgan Governor Vadim Shumkov said there was almost a “sea” of water approaching the area and fresh rainfall was making the situation worse.
