Florida experienced record-low temperatures, surprising both residents and tourists who typically expect warm weather in November. The unexpected cold led to the closure of several major water parks, including Universal's Volcano Bay, SeaWorld's Aquatica, and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, disrupting vacation plans for many visitors.

Despite the chilly conditions, some tourists expressed relief at not facing harsher winter weather in their home states. The cold snap also provided an early opportunity for people to wear Christmas sweaters, with Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay preparing to launch its Christmas Town event amid the festive weather.

From theme parks to pet parks, Florida feels record-low temperature

You'll notice it when you step outside this morning. It is cold and our Kelly Cowan is live with reaction from tourists who came here to get away from this kind of weather, right? Yes they did and yet it followed them so I guess we can thank them for that for bringing us this hard launch into winter. We are about to hear from someone from Chicago that you mentioned and she is feeling lucky that she's not dealing with those feet of snow that they received but this has caught many off guard. Many people come down here in November because they know it's dry weather and they can get that last little taste of summer or at least typically they can. So not only is this cold weather catching many of us in Florida off guard but it has certainly caught plenty of tourists off guard who didn't exactly pack for the temperatures that they've been dealing with. Yesterday extremely windy at the theme parks in Orlando as well as being cold and we know that some of the theme parks actually closed down because of the wintry blast of weather so this cold snap again not exactly what many people were hoping for their vacations but they're still feeling lucky that they're not back home right now. I'm thankful that I'm not wearing snow boots I'm still wearing flats that's for sure but I'm I'm not looking forward to going home then. Honestly after 80 degree days in the park the cool weather doesn't feel terrible to us but we also are from the north. Some told us that they had to scramble out last minute to go hit up Walmart for a new sweatshirt or a coat but the cold weather it did prompt some of those water parks as I mentioned to close on Monday so that includes Universal's Volcano Bay and SeaWorld's Aquatica as well as Disney's Typhoon Lagoon. It was open on Monday but it will not be open today because of these very brisk temperatures here in the Tampa Bay area we know that Busch Gardens is actually going to be launching their Christmas Village Christmas Town I should say this weekend so even though it is going to heat up a little bit it will still feel nice and Christmassy come Friday when they start that so hey a good opportunity to break out the Christmas sweaters a lot of times it's too warm to even wear those before Christmas sets in so you're you're getting a little bonus time in those Christmas sweaters this time around.
