More than 2,000 music lovers from around the world are heading to the Polish town of Duszniki-Zdroj for the 80th International Chopin Piano Festival.

Musicians and fans from various countries have gathered in Duszniki-Zdrój, Poland, for the International Chopin Festival. The festival, dedicated to the renowned Polish pianist and composer Frederick Chopin, features nine days of concerts and musical workshops.

Among the performers is Aristo Sham, a 29-year-old pianist from Hong Kong, who is launching his world tour at the event. The festival is held in the town where Chopin gave his first concert abroad, a performance that inspired the creation of the festival in the 1940s.

Among the headliners is 29-year-old Aristo Sham, a prodigy from Hong Kong, who is launching his world tour at the festival. I'm very happy to be back, it's sort of very familiar, like driving into the city from the mountains I already got a lot of deja vu and also coming to the hall and feeling the acoustic again, it's a very special, very luminous sound in here. I think it's lovely that places like this can stay sort of still in time and continue this tradition. The event is taking place in the town where a young Chopin featured at his first concert abroad when the area was part of Germany. It was that performance which inspired the creation of the festival in the 1940s.
